Photography (Fine Art or Elective Credit)
Course Description: We will explore the history of photography, read and watch films about the masters, and learn everything you need to know about your camera. I don’t require that you have a fancy camera. You may not even have a DSLR, which is fine. All I ask is that you have a camera that has a Manual Mode feature, it should look like the letter M on your featured modes. So don’t go blowing $500 on a new one! Some weeks, we will watch videos and talk about how I learned from others. We will go outside almost every week and learn hands-on your camera’s capabilities! I will show you lighting techniques, cool techniques, how to edit photos, and so much more. We will also look into photoshop near the end of the year as well as studio lighting, and how to master it. Don’t feel overwhelmed about what we go over. I’m here to help you, so please don’t feel afraid to get in touch with me if you have a question. By the end of the year you will be comfortable with your capabilities, because each and everyone of you are incredibly smart and capable! Your love for art and beauty will grow, and you will have a valuable skill in your belt.
Time: Tuesday, 2:00-3:30
Instructor: Jake Marvin. Jake is a Class of 2019 ECS alumni who has been taking pictures seriously for 7 years now. His photography is featured here.
Contact info: Email or call at (205) 563-3930 with questions or to register
