Class of 2024 Notices and Scholarship Information
NOTICES
- If you plan to attend college, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- The 2024-2025 college students' FAFSA will not be available until December. However, there is some valuable preparation information available now. All colleges require completing this form regardless of whether you utilize Government aid. When the form asks for the name of your school, type in Evangel Christian School, if you completed the form before October 1, you should log in to your application and complete the renewal process.
- Request that ECS supply high school transcript to any college to which you apply.
- The 12th-grade curriculum log must be on file to fulfill a transcript request.

- Birmingham NACAC Fair -- Sunday, October 8; 1 pm - 4pm . Hosted at the Hoover Met. Use this link for more information and to register to attend the fair.
- Just a reminder that it is the law that all men must register with the Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. It keeps students eligible for federal loans and grants, state student aid, and even admission to some state schools, jobs, training, and, in most states, a driver’s license. Also, college scholarships can be affected if a student has not registered. Register here.
- Register for National Association of Christian College Admissions College Fair
- Check college websites for information regarding application requirements and deadlines. Remember to submit transcript distribution request forms and/or requests for letters of recommendation to the ECS office at least seven days in advance.

Smith Scholarship Foundation
To provide a legacy of learning to those students who have given back to their community through volunteer work and assistance to family. To assist those students in becoming productive members of society who possess independence, morality, and good citizenship. To encourage future leaders to devote their talents and education to their community, state, and nation by providing their fellow man with an example of compassionate citizenship.

Elks National Foundation Scholarship Programs
The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2023 competition.
Male and female students compete separately.
Ranging from $1,000 to $12,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.
The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation will announce the 500 national winners in late April 2023. (Many local Lodges, districts and state Elks associations award their own scholarships through this program. These scholarships are not to be confused with the 500 Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships.)
Deadline: November 13, 2023
Heisman High School Scholarship
The Heisman Memorial Trophy is renowned for symbolizing the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The Heisman High School Scholarship, presented by Acceptance Insurance, extends the Heisman prestige to our nation’s most esteemed male and female high school seniors by recognizing and rewarding outstanding scholar-athletes who understand that the most important victories not only happen on the field, but in their schools and communities. These remarkable young leaders set the example and make a game-changing difference every day, paving the way to greatness for everyone around them.

American Legion Scholarships (Various)
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship
- Up to $55,000 annually is available to high-achieving high school seniors with community income below $95,000 who seek to attend and graduate from the nation’s best four-year colleges and universities.
- Deadline: November 16, 2023
Linly Heflin Scholarship
- $9,000 per year, renewable, to a limited number of Alabama women who plan to attend a four-year Alabama college or university.
- Deadline: January 10, 2024
Smith Scholarship Foundation

- This program includes conservation and game management, lectures and activities related to hunting and fishing techniques and strategies, internships related to the outdoor industry, and guided hunting and fishing trips. Scholarships are available.
