ECS Testimonials
“What a Blessed time we had at graduation. My family truly enjoyed it!!” –mother 3 alums, 1 student, 2017
“Howard O’Neal, no one but you and the good Lord will ever know all of the time, effort, and energy you put into completing tasks large and small, noticed and unnoticed, working with parents who only knew half the story but thought they had all the answers, and making sure the program had the best it could with the resources God had provided. You have my respect and admiration. God bless you in your future endeavors. Respectfully,” –father of 1 ECS alum

“We loved the graduation ceremony. It was extra special to be able to give (our son) his diploma ourselves. You guys do a great job and we are forever grateful for all you've done for us. Bill, (our son) adores you and hates he missed getting in a pic with you. Maybe we can make that happen somehow.” -mother 1 alum, 2017
“She did it! Thankfully we are ready for the next chapter of her education... We couldn't have done it without Evangel!” –mother of 1 alum, 2 students, 2017

You have each been a blessing to our family.” - father of 2 alums, 2017

“Mr. and Mrs. Snuggs, I graduated with ECS class of 2013. I just wanted to reach out to y'all and tell you how grateful I am for the time and effort that you put into me during my short time at Evangel. I was only there for a year, but the relationships and experiences that I had there have had a huge impact on my life. I met the most amazing people through Evangel that will be my friends for life, including my future husband. I am currently planning my wedding with (my fiancee), whom I met at the Evangel Homecoming dance. We are actually reaching out to Evangel Presbyterian now to ask if we can have our wedding and reception in the same place that we met. Evangel will always have a huge place in our hearts. I can't thank you enough for all of the hard work that you put in to making it what it is today. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. If there is ever anything that we can do to help out, please let us know. Many Blessings, – Alum ’13, 2017
“Hi Sandy, I hope you are having a wonderful start to the year. I wanted to let you know that God has richly blessed Sarah Grace with 4 scholarships to Samford University! We are so grateful for all that you have done over the years to help our family to be successful. What a wonderful blessing you have been to us along this journey. Through several trips out of the country, Sarah has also grown to have a heart for missions. She will be traveling after graduation to live in East Asia for the summer before attending Samford in the fall. When I think back to all the times I would stress and worry and sometimes even call you in a panic, I have to laugh. You always had a word of peace and a gentle reminder to trust Him. I will forever be grateful to you! When God called me to home school my girls all those years ago, it was a sermon by Charles Stanley that God used to convince my heart to take that leap of faith. I will never forget, Dr. Stanley made the statement, “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.” God used those words to pierce my heart. He has been so faithful to that promise. My girls see the world through the filter of their relationship with Christ, and I fully believe that was His main purpose in calling us to this adventure. I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate you and your husband and to give a praise for His wonderful answer to our prayers!” –mother of 1 alum, 2 students, 2017
“Sandy, Wow! Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful letter on Brooke's behalf. It means so much to our family! Our move to Evangel was later in Brooke's high school years than I had always planned, but we are so thankful to have people like you in our lives. Your kind words and encouragement are such a blessing! I cannot thank you enough. Brooke has become excited about going to Montevallo since going to the interview. She feels like she already has a family there that "gets her". This has been a trying process for her and myself, but it has truly been in God's hands. The ministry of Evangel Christian School is amazing… Looking forward to another great school year through Evangel Christian School. Thank you so much for all you do for our family!” –mother of 1 alum, 2 students, 2017
“Dear Bill, I just read your letter and I am most grateful and humbled by your kind words. My prayer is that Micah will continue to glorify the Lord all the days of his life! Thank you for all you do. Your investment in these children is of eternal value. Your encouragement means so much to our entire family!” –mother of 4 alums, 2017
“Thank you all so much for making this year possible and for working so hard to serve our families!” –mother of 2 alums, 1 student, 2017
“We have many bittersweet emotions about approaching our last year. We hope to finish strong but can not even begin to express our appreciation for all you two have done to make this experience with homeschooling as good as it was for our kids! You both have impacted their lives in a deep way. We thank you so much!” –mother 5 alums, 2017
"Bill and Sandy, …As you can imagine, we have mixed emotions as we close this chapter in our lives. So grateful for the blessing and privilege of teaching our children at home all these years but yet anxious to see what the Lord has in store for us in the days ahead. Several of our family members and friends were in attendance yesterday and all had nothing but high praise for the quality of the ceremony and the impressive accomplishments of the graduates. You and Sandy are to be commended for putting together a great service that once again just confirms that ECS is a very special ministry led by the absolute best administrators on the planet! Janet and I love you guys so much and are so appreciative for the incredible investment that you have made in the lives of so many students & their families over the past 12 years. May God continue to pour out His richest blessings on Evangel Christian School! Sincerely,” –Steve and Janet Dean, parents of 5 graduates, 2016
“Thank you so much for the care you have taken of our family over the years. We have had a wonderful experience. The graduation ceremony you orchestrated was by far the BEST to which I have ever been. (And I must say the valedictorian speech was also the best I've ever heard.) Evangel does everything well. Thank you for clear direction and instruction throughout the years homeschooling and at graduation. I really can't tell you how much y'all have meant to me and my family. (But mainly me! Ha!) Sincerely,” –-mother of 1 graduate, 2016
“Hello Sandy, I just wanted to say thank you. The invitations and the name cards are beautiful. After having a child graduate from another institution, I really appreciate how reasonably priced everything was and how the minimum number of invitations wasn't a huge number. Evangel does everything well. I am as excited about graduation as (my daughter) is. I really appreciate you and ECS. Sincerely,” -mother of 1 graduate, 2016
“Hey Sandy, I really don't know what to say...I read your email to Samford regarding advocating for (our son) and literally cried! "Thank you" is just not enough to say for what you wrote about (him). The things you said and how you said them were masterful. Thank you so much for taking the time to communicate and advocate on his/our behalf. Once again, you have demonstrated exactly why we have loved you and Bill, and loved being a part of Evangel. As I said, thank you is just not enough, but...thank you! Thanks!” –father of 3 graduates, 2016
“It's my pleasure. My last time to "chaperone" - it has been a joy! My eyes well with tears out of gratitude for what you and Bill have meant to me and our family! You will never know the gratitude and love I feel for you two and this school. You have not always known the struggles and challenges we have faced these 6 or 7 years. And somehow in God's infinite wisdom and grace He has used you to bless us in ways you will never know this side of heaven. Thank you! I deeply love you for so many reasons...but mostly for your unwavering encouragement, wisdom, and how you have loved my kids. You and Bill are true persons of peace and I call you blessed! Can't wait to celebrate the freedom and redemption. Of our kids tomorrow! Thank you again Sandy Snuggs❤, ” –mother of 2 graduates, 2016
“Sandy, thank you for all your efforts to make the prom such a beautiful experience. My boys and their dates could not have enjoyed it more. They told me that you slipped over to the DJ a couple of times and requested a course-correction. 😉 I appreciate your discernment and heart to keep it wholesome and uplifting in every way. Evangel's prom is very different from proms at other schools where licentiousness is prevalent and unrestrained. It is possible that our students will encounter those types of events in the next few years, but what a privilege to begin by experiencing it the better way. Gratefully,” -mother of 2 graduates, 2016
“We don't know who to thank but (my daughter) & her friends had a ball at Prom. It sounds like it was an amazing evening. She's presently regaling us with the highlights from last night. What a precious memory! Thank you for your hard work.” -mother of 1 graduate and 2 students, 2016
“This is PERFECT. I was just sitting down to figure all of this out. Thank you so much! (Our daughter) is so excited to do the creation science. She told me in the car that she had a debate with someone the other day over evolution and knew WHAT she believed but wasn't sure how to back it up. She was excited to be able to do this. And this gives us a good excuse to go visit the creation science museum. BLESS YOU Sandy! Our family is so grateful for yours!” -mother of 1 graduate and 2 students, 2016
“Our choice to homeschool at ECS will go down as one of the best decisions (our) family has ever made. Our biggest regret maybe, ‘Why didn’t we do this sooner?’ Our lives have been simplified, priorities aligned, and our entire family’s relationship with Jesus Christ has blossomed. We can never thank you enough.” -mother and father of 2 students, 2014
“We switched from (another large homeschool cover) to Evangel for all of my children because we had heard that the Evangel administration was very prompt in responding to questions and handling transcript issues, paperwork or just general inquiries. I have found that to be true this past year with our children... Thank you for the efforts to respond to emails and to communicate with me regarding my children and their education at Evangel.”-mother of 1 graduate and 3 students, 2012
“Graduation was wonderful-very tastefully done and organized. My husband and I (and our graduate) were impressed and pleased!!” -mother of 1 graduate and 2 students, 2012

“I very much appreciate everything you have done for us over the past few years, and I will miss being a part of Evangel and having such good support, such as yourself...I loved homeschooling” -mother of 2 students, 2012
“Can’t believe I am only enrolling one this year! Thanks again for the role you guys played in our son’s last two years of high school at ECS; you will never know how much it meant to him! I am thankful for the memories and friends he has because of ECS. He truly had the BEST of if all for a senior experience! To God be the glory!” -mother of 1 graduate and 1 student, 2012
“THANK YOU so much for walking with us through this stage of the journey!! You have been so gracious & kind always as we have needed help! Seeing y'all and other families that have transitioned into college life through homeschooling has been a big encouragement. Thanks for everything”! -mother of 1 graduate and 6 students, 2012
“Thanks also, for all you do for Evangel! I must say that I always feel the presence of our Lord when you have meetings. You all are doing a great job! I so appreciate the help you have given me over these years! (Our daughter’s) first week at UAB has been, in her words,"Better than I expected”. She knew everything already that her PreCal/Algebra professor went over. Her first English class was fun. Yes, fun! Praying for God to stretch her, challenge her, and remind her of His truths as she continues to grow through this experience. Just thought I'd share, so you can know how these Evangel grads are doing. I'll keep you posted!“ -mother of 1 graduate and 2 students, 2012
“Thank you, Sandy. You are such a wonderful administrator, and we appreciate your service to our families.Thank you for all that you and Bill do for our families! Your joyful willingness to invest so much of your time and energy into the lives of our children and our families is a blessing beyond measure.” -mother of 1 graduate and 1 student, 2012
"Thank you for allowing us the privilege and opportunity to participate in ECS athletics. It brings an exciting new dimension to the educational experience for the student athletes. We appreciate all of the work you and Howard complete "behind the scenes" for these students.” -father of ECCS athletic participant, 2012
“...I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with the way the girls have welcomed (our daughter) onto the team. I know the new player who isn't any good doesn't always receive the warmest reception, but everybody has gone out of their way to be nice to (her). It did my heart good to see her and (one of the other girls) skipping across the...parking lot, arm-in-arm. (another girl who) is the best player on the team...laughs and giggles with (our daughter) like they are long-lost buddies. Go Homeschoolers :)" -father of 1 student, 2012
“Thanks so much for everything you are doing with (our son). He is loving baseball this year...You all have really built him back up. Thank you so much!! I have prayed hard about this, and just so blessed that we are playing baseball with you all this year. (Our son) has had a rough couple of years and really needed this, and to meet some new young men, and they are all wonderful young men. I want him to be more involved with this group of young men. I am hoping he will also play football this year. He is my boy that needs encouragement. Homeschool has been the best thing for him. I cannot stress to you how many times in the past when he was in a public school the nights me and him both cried because he struggled so much and was not getting what he needed in a public school. ...It has taken a long time to get him built back up. (Now) he does his work at his own pace and does not have to be rushed and it works so much better for him. And (although) he did make the baseball team at the high school, and played for 2½ years, he was so discouraged, he did not even try out last year. Thanks so much for everything you all have done for him. I just wanted you to all know how much I appreciate you all.” -mother of 1 student, 2012
“You know I have loved the home school experience and it has been wonderful for my family and (our 2 graduates). I can’t say enough good about ECS! You are so awesome and I will miss you all greatly. I hope to home school (our other son) soon over the next few years; we will see where God leads us.” -mother of 2 ECS graduates, 2012
“Thanks for the help. (My wife) and I felt like we had been in a worship service as good as any while at the graduate dinner on Tuesday. What a blessing and probably one of the most memorable events we have ever attended.” -father of 3 graduates and 2 students, 2012
“I would like to take a moment of your time to thank the Snuggs and Mr. O'Neal for the leadership, time, effort, and vision they provide for the Evangel school community and sports program. Your commitment to giving families a place where they can come to ensure that they are able educate their children as they see best and to do so from a Christian perspective is much admired and appreciated. May God continue to bless you now and in the future.” -father of 2 ECCS athletics participants, 2012
"I can’t express enough my appreciation for the way you promptly and professionally handle all of my questions, requests and comments. I was so concerned about not getting all of the correct forms taken care of for (for my oldest son) at the last home school umbrella that we were under that I put him back at (a private school) (...until I realized Evangel was the umbrella group that could handle it all). It has been a great year for (our whole family) You are a large part of making it so! Thank you.” -father of 1 graduate and 3 students, 2012
“Y'all have been excellent & I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to homeschool my kids through such an awesome cover. Best wishes to you for the future & if I can be of any assistance please let me know. I am still encouraging parents to homeschool & sharing the benefits, I am also sharing y'all. Thanks again & I pray that the Lord continue to bless you in this ministry.” -mother of 1 graduate, 2012
“(Since transferring to ECS, our son) has worked hard and done well. I asked him why he could not have done this good in (his private) school. He said too many distractions. Maybe we should have looked at your school earlier. Thank you (for) your help.” -father of 1 student, 2012
“Thanks for everything!!! I can not begin to tell you how much of a blessing this experience has been for our son and for our family as a whole!” -mother of 1 graduate, 2011

“Thank you for making the difficult job of homeschooling easy with minimal administrative effort.” -mother of 1 student, 2011

Because of Evangel, she has been able to continue her education --at her current grade level and at her advanced curriculum. We have learned a great deal about ourselves and our faith through this experience.” -mother of 1 graduate, 2010
“Thank you Miss Sandy. I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated you during my high-school years. You have always shown me such kindness and God's love has always shined through you. “Thanks so much for all that you do for the families of Evangel!” -mother of 2 students, 2010
“It was such a wonderful graduation event.” -father of 1 graduate, 2010
“Our family has been with Evangel homeschool since our son began 1st grade 8 years ago. We debated every year whether to continue with Evangel, knowing there were “cheaper” alternatives out there, but knew at some point our children would need to be more “connected” with the opportunities Evangel offered, as they grew older. All that to say, our 8th grade son finished playing his first JV football game last night. We’ve been carpooling with another family the long drive south since January to work out with the team. Our son wanted to quit many times, but my husband said he’d always regret not at least playing one year. We’ve had to work through MANY “heart issues”...but last night our carpool friend and I sat on the bleachers and at the same time said, “All these miles were soooo worth it!” We could tell the boys were well trained and ready for the game. My son said he never had so much fun IN HIS LIFE, and he went on and on as we drove home about how good the coaches were, how good the training was etc. He could see in his own life how GOOD it is to keep “running the race” and “cross the line”. I woke up the morning and felt impressed to write to say, “THANK YOU” for pressing on with the vision the Lord gave you to start a football team years ago. (Some of the moms filled me in on how Evangel even had a team.) I am SO GRATEFUL for my sons to not only have the opportunity to play football as a homeschooler, but to learn from such Godly men. Everything has been excellent! ...thought you’d be encouraged to know that the Lord has brought along good coaches/trainers that are helping to shape more boys to “go out as arrows” here in a few years.” -mother of 3 students, 2010
“Your commitment to a firm foundation helps make homeschooling with excellence a possibility for us-and we thank you!” -mother of 2 students, 2010
“I can’t thank you enough not only for your help and encouragement but also for your example. I have really enjoyed the connection we have had with the school.” -mother of 3 students, 2010

“We are so thankful for the leadership you & Sandy give to ECS and its far-reaching ministry to many families!” -father of 1 student, 2010
“It is very nice to see a group of girls whose class and character is as evident on the court as their basketball skills. Unfortunately, that is not always the norm, even in our Christian School leagues. It was clear that the character of your girls is a reflection of the parents and coaches.” -Cullman Christian basketball coach, 2010
“Thank you for all that you ... do for our families! Your joyful willingness to invest so much of your time and energy into the lives of our children and our families is a blessing beyond measure.” -mother of 2 students, 2010
“Dear Mr. Snuggs, ...I just want to thank you and your wife for everything that you guys did during my high-school years. I lived farther away than most students, so I didn't get to spend as much time with you and Mrs. Sandy, but that did not change the effect you guys had on my life. Senior year was incredible. I even liked prom. (Haha) I wouldn't have attended, but I was dragged there. The atmosphere was so calm and clean. I really enjoyed it. I realize the hand you two had in my high-school years and I am so thankful. I especially want to thank you for my athletic award. When you handed it to me on stage I didn't get to really thank you. It was sort of intense because I was so thankful for it but also knew a lot of other students deserved it as well. I am so grateful to you. I loved basketball about as much as a girl could, and I would have never been able to play without y’all's organization. You were a wonderful leader and I want you to know that I respect you very much. I was very impressed with how well you dealt with hard situations with students without losing your temper. I learned so much, thanks to you guys. Both you and Mrs. Sandy have done a wonderful job. I hope your new students will have as much fun as I did. Thank you,” -Graduate, Class of 2009
“...you have given yourselves completely to helping others accomplish the homeschooling effort with their families. I want you to know that it has not gone unnoticed that it has been a monumental effort. Without a doubt, the attitude of humility in which you go about your ministry is the thing that has stood out to me most and has endeared you two to my heart. To say that I am grateful is an understatement. May God bless you for your kindness from His riches in Glory. Love in Christ,“ -mother of 5 students, 2 graduates, 2009
“It was a pleasure meeting you...yesterday. I am looking forward to a wonderful year homeschooling (our daughter) and I appreciate all of your time and patience with the many questions I have asked. I truly believe that God has sent me in the right direction leading me to Evangel and I'm so grateful for all the wonderful people I have met.” -mother of 1 student, 2008
“We went to the (ECS basketball) game and enjoyed it. (Our daughter) is interested in playing next year. (By the way) the website is very informative...” -father of 4 students, 2008
"My husband and I wanted to express our excitement about Evangel as well as our overwhelming peace the Lord has given us concerning our decision to leave the public school system and begin home schooling. We were both very impressed with the orientation meeting and with the heart felt emotion shown by so many of the parents representing Evangel. We want you to know that we genuinely want to see Evangel succeed and will be praying for you and the other staff. We hope to support your efforts in any way needed and we look forward to getting to know you and the other staff in the future. If there is ever anything that you need please feel free to contact us. " -parents of 3 elementary students, 2007
"Thank you once again for your help! Our years of home schooling, apart from their yearly evaluation, had been figuring it out on our own as we go along. It’s so helpful and encouraging to have a place to go with questions and concerns." -mother of 6 ECS students, 2007

“All is well here. The children are learning and growing and I am thankful to be with them...My prayer is next year I will be able to put some volunteer hours in at the school office...I know the many hours of tireless work that you devote to us. I feel blessed to be a part of this school." -mother of 3 ECS students, 2007
“Thank you all (coaches) for the many, many hours you spent helping (our two sons) and all our boys have SUCH a good experience (in football). They join me in saying thank you...Thank You, God!" -mother of 4 students, 1 graduate, 2007
“Coaches, you make such a difference in the lives of each of the young men you work with through your commitment, dedication, guidance, and spiritual example. Though the current football season has ended, the effect that you have had on the lives of these guys will continue making ripples throughout eternity. You have not only educated these young men on how to improve as football players, athletes and team players, you have also shown them how to walk as godly young men. Each and every one of you bring different tactics and personalities with which to instruct the boys, yet you all have had a common goal in training these young men in the direction they should go. Each and every one of you have been a crucial part of the dynamics of the ECS Lightning team.
To share an example with you personally, (our son) has been thoroughly enriched and blessed by participating in the football program. He tried playing "city ball" one year and he absolutely hated it. He stopped eating and though he tried to be big for us, we could hear him crying in the shower many nights in anticipation of having to return to practice on the next day. When he made the decision to play for ECS this year, we were honestly not sure how he would respond. He went to day one of spring training and loved it. By the end of the week of spring training, he was convinced that he wanted to play. As two-a-days approached, I became apprehensive. Would he persevere? Indeed he did. He never missed a two-a-day practice and he never complained about them. He came home after each practice session with a different and uplifting story of how the coaches and players encouraged him and helped him to press on to the goal. Once two-a-days ended, he felt accomplished and he wanted to play. After that point, he continued to look forward to each and every practice. He never missed a single practice. He didn't cry about having to go to practice, but there was a time he cried when he thought that (his father) was going to make him sit out for a practice when he (was) hurt...
(Our son) respected each and every one of you as well as his teammates. When the Monday after (the) last game rolled around, (our son) realized that he didn't have anymore practices or games...he cried. He loved the game. He loved his coaches. He loved his teammates. He developed this heart, love and desire from the dedication and encouragement that each of you provided. THANK YOU ALL FOR GIVING (our son) ONE OF THE MOST POSITIVE EXPERIENCES OF HIS LIFE. By the way...he is already working hard for next year's season and can hardly wait for spring training to roll around.
May the light of the Lord continue to shine through each of you. Love and blessings..." -mother of 2 students, 2007

“...this year's yearbook is AWESOME. The yearbook staff did a tremendous job. God has truly given them some wonderful talents in their ideas and creativity. PERFECT YEARBOOK!" -mother of 2 students, 2007
“Thanks for a great year! This is an amazing program. We are blessed God led us here! We will be back next year.” -mother of 1 student, 2007
“Bill, I just wanted to let you know how much (my wife) and I appreciate you, Sandy and the Evangel program. The decision to homeschool was not easy and one that I truly believe was orchestrated by God. In His wisdom, He put circumstances and events in motion a couple of years ago that resulted in our “conversion” experience.
Over dinner earlier this week, (my wife) and I were discussing some of our homeschool related experiences from the last two years. We started out discussing ... folks that we had previously (been in public school with) When we see these people socially, ... (they) are usually very surprised to hear about the opportunities for organized athletics, social events and even “classroom”-like tutorials and shared learning groups. They are usually floored when they hear us talk about things like proms and national championships!
We reminisced about the individuals (at Evangel) that reached out to us in our early days. I would be less than honest if I didn’t share that we had some doubts and second thoughts early on. However, it seems like every time we would start to second-guess ourselves, someone would offer to share a ride or share materials or to make sure we had resources or someone would call us to make sure we knew when and where certain things were happening. God erased all my doubts at the Golden Corral (I think) restaurant in Huntsville at the pre-game football meal. This was our first game as I recall. I was running a little late so we did not carpool to this game with the group. (my son) and I were both nervous when we arrived at the restaurant a few minutes late. The team was seated in the back room. As we walked in, Steve Dean met us at the door. I was sure that Coach Dean was about to chew (my son)’s backside and have mine for dessert because we were late. That was not the case. Coach Dean put his arm around (my son)’s shoulder. He went over to a table of players and had them clear out a spot for (my son) to sit. He introduced (my son) to each one by name. I could see (my son) relax ever so slightly. After eating a little, I looked back into the room just to see how things were going. As you can imagine (my son) was fully engaged in conversation and bonding with his new teammates by this time. At that moment in time, God gave me the comfort and assurance I needed to continue to trust Him in this journey. (my wife) and I both shared how blessed we have been by the friendships and relationships we’ve developed with other ...(homeschool) families at Evangel. In describing the people we’ve come to know and love through this program, we kept using adjectives such as “real”, “genuine”, “caring” and “unpretentious”... Given our strong belief in the value and sanctity of family, it has been heartwarming to be associated with other families that have chosen to invest their time and effort into their children...
Lastly, (my wife) and I discussed how amazed we were to find the diversity and quality of the resources available today for homeschool families. We are just awestruck when we think about how difficult things must have been for those families that have been homeschooling for a number of years. We have a great deal of respect and admiration for those pioneer families that paved the way for us. (my wife) and I are confident that The Lord’s will and purpose will be perfected in the days ahead as this program continues to become what He intends for it to be. We pray for you, Sandy, the board and other Evangel family members often. We both are thankful that God has led us to homeschooling. We are even more grateful that He led us to be part of the Evangel family. God is good!" -father of 1 graduate, 2006
"...just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate all the encouraging words to (our son) from the other (football) coaches and players. I saw a big change in him from one night to another and I think their positive attitudes have a lot to do with it! His self confidence is getting a much needed boost and he is beginning to see he can do more than he thought.. That is HUGE for him! Thank you for all your efforts and for the great job all the coaches are doing!" -mother of 2 ECS elementary school students / previous public schooler / ECS family 2006
"I would like to first of all thank you for all of the planning, time, heart and soul that you so generously gave to these boys. (Our son) absolutely LOVED spring training...he said he likes what you can teach him. We heard a lot of wonderful things about (the coaches), so thank you for making it such a wonderful experience for the boys. I would also like to commend several of the varsity players for the encouragement, enthusiasm, team-spirit, dedication, work ethic which they displayed to the younger players, as well as the welcoming and friendly nature with which they taught them. We were extremely touched and impressed. (They) were quite an inspiration to (our son) and many other younger players. So, again, thank you for everything you have done and are doing on behalf of these boys." -parents of two ECS students, 2006
"I don’t know who to thank, but Evangel's graduation was the best. We have experienced several, but you couldn't top what (our son) and our other graduates had. No other school or homeschool was even in the same category! Please thank all the wonderful people who put it all together." -mother of 2 graduates, 2006
"Evangel has a very special place in our hearts and always will and I am immensely thankful that my children were fortunate enough to have gotten their early training there. As a mother sending them out into the "big, bad world" what a blessing to know that they have a very solid foundation." -mother of 3 graduates, 2006
"I absolutely appreciate you and Sandy and all the teachers at Evangel. This has been truly a blessing and I thank each of you for you kindness, patience and love towards (my daughter). I also thank you for your direction and guidance AND patience with me as I have had to learn this new system and the computer...For the longest time I did not think we were going to make it through because of the math dilemma but, thanks to Mrs. Houser, this was resolved. We were slow but, steady. Again, thank you for all your help and Sandy’s encouragement. I’ve never been so grateful." -mother of 1 graduate / previous public schooler, 2006
"...The (football players) are so well-mannered and polite -- it's our pleasure to be able to host them on these special game days. Let me know if I can help in the future." -Dawn Corley, Director of Activities , Green Valley Baptist Church, 2007
“This has been one of the most difficult years for my family; (our son's) schooling, Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts and a new business due to my needs. In my difficult time, I realized our son was getting (reciprocal) and happier at home, (as a result) of homeschooling, away from much pressure. I feel like homeschooling helped our family draw closer together and my son is a much happier person. That alone means so much more to us than anything else in the world. I should express my thanks to both of you for your willingness to be Christian counselors to your home schooling families, and especially to my son and me. I will forever be grateful to (the) kindness you have shown to me through the school year of 2005 to 2006. It has been a loving and healing time for my son, which was long over due since he had bad experiences from one of his former schools. And that was the blessing among my blessings I had this year. Thank you!” -parents of 1 graduate/ previous public schooler, 2005
“For us the primary blessings have been the people that we have met. You, as our administrators, are a true source of encouragement each time that I talk with you. It is a blessing to have people who understand and are right there with you "in the thick of it all". We have also met people through our contacts with basketball that have blessed us personally through words of encouragement. It is a privilege to be a part of Evangel Christian School. We are proud of our affiliation with you.” -parents of 2 graduates, 2005
“Just a note of thanks, for all going so well last night (at the Sports Banquet), and all the hard work no one will ever really know about behind the scenes. As a parent, it was a nice event. As a volunteer, it was enjoyable to see the kids that we've been able to work with have a moment. As a Christian, the words of the leaders were encouraging and reinforces why we chose to go this route. Hopefully the same is true for all those in attendance, and I think it is. Thanks a lot for the two years we've had, look forward the third and sadly the final year to come.” -father of 1 graduate, 2004
“Thanks for allowing me to teach the home school chemistry class this year. The students have been a tremendous blessing to me. I'm very proud of all that they have accomplished, and I'm particularly proud that the grades are high even though the course was demanding. Best wishes for a great summer!” -Dennis Glass / Briarwood Christian High School and ECS Tutorials Chemistry Instructor, 2005
“…thank you for a great school year. Being a first-time homeschooler I didn't know what to expect, but it was great.” -mother of 2 graduates, 1 student, 2005
“For my family, home schooling has been a great blessing and one of the wisest choices that my wife and I have ever made. In the early days of home schooling, the lack of athletics was a real problem and one that really concerned me as a former college football player who believed that athletics can be one of the best ways to connect to teenage boys and a way to build discipline, work ethic and so many of the virtues that Christian parents deem important. It has come a long way and now is offered in a lot of home school programs. When we formed Evangel a couple of years ago, we wanted athletics to be an essential part of our program and we wanted it to be done as excellent as it could be done in the venue that we could offer it. We have accomplished that goal in that we have been more than competitive in football, basketball and baseball. In football, we have been fortunate enough to be one of the top 8-man programs in the Southeast, not only among home school programs but among Christian schools in general. I have been the head coach the first two years but decided to step down in order to concentrate on my full time job and my “dad” responsibilities at home. We are in search for a varsity head coach as we speak and have some promising leads. Bill Snuggs, our school administrator, is extremely versatile in that he has a deep coaching background, that has allowed us to “use” him as the JV football coach and head baseball coach. The baseball program has been competitive and has a promising future as we have many returning varsity starters and we enter into a new conference next year that will give us a full and competitive schedule… (I) am very proud of not only what we have accomplished in the first 2 years of Evangel but, more importantly in the way that we have impacted our athletes and their families. God has been faithful to raise up excellent coaches who not only know what they are doing on the field but also love our student athletes and make our athletic teams fun and encouraging. I feel that we are right where we envisioned being as a school and athletic program. If I was not a part of Evangel but was interested in home schooling and having my children involved in a Christ-centered and competitive athletic program, Evangel would be my choice hands down.” -Steve Dean / father of 3 graduate & 2 students, 2005
“Our daughter received a $4000 valedictorian scholarship to Auburn as a result of being Evangel's first valedictorian. Our son received encouragement as a Christian young man playing for the first time on a football team under Evangel's Coach Dean and Snuggs. Our two younger sons have broadened their friendships with other kids at Evangel's football games and other special events.” -mother of 3 graduates & 1 student, 2005
“We are so grateful for the many hours you have already given to our family and we are very excited about how the Lord will use our school to prepare our children for Kingdom work.” -parents of 4 graduates, 2004
“(We) have been richly blessed by homeschooling our children. The knowledge they have gained this past year has been enormous. The friendships we have made with other homeschooling families are priceless. (Our children) have thoroughly enjoyed going on field trips with their friends and they look forward to the field trips they will participate in the next school year.” -mother of 2 elementary school students, 2004
“…like most blessings, I tend to take for granted things like:
‣Prompt and courteous help, support, and instruction of the administration of our school
‣The love the coaching staffs have displayed, (about their players and about their sport)
‣The fact my kids can have so many friends that are not pressured by this world’s evil but are watched and instructed by those who desire to please God
‣Just being around so many who pull together to make home schooling a success
‣Being a part of education of my kids that public schools cannot offer
‣Seeing people work for the love and not for the money
‣Meeting and having the opportunity discuss things with dozens of people that have a common bond
‣Seeing other kids grow and graduate and knowing they will be good solid husbands, wives, and citizens
‣I began coaching 4 years ago a junior high team. This year several of the girls I coached then graduated. I (am) not sure how to put into words but this has been a blessing to me.
As a coach; the encouragement from so many, even though I made several mistakes
Thanks again for all ya’ll do,” -father of 3 graduates, 2004
“I just wanted to tell you some wonderful comments and emotions that (we) overheard/felt from family members attending graduation. We had several family members that don't know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ there. The ceremony was Christ centered and God honoring. What a blessing to be there. The students truly "stepped up to the plate" in the comments made during the video presentation. "Are they really that focused on their spiritual life?” was just one of many comments made. Several family members that are not close to (our son) cried the entire ceremony, because of the heartfelt things that were said by our students. How wonderful, to think that our graduation may have planted the seeds of salvation into many hearts! It made them question the rearing of their own children and question the world's point of view in child rearing. ECS made a clear and precise statement "Christ centered-God honoring" education for our children that comes first and foremost in our lives. We, parents, have no perfect situation, BUT our Savior is perfect and He is leading all of us through this challenging time in our lives of educating our children. Thanks for reading this, I just wanted you to know the positive impact you made through the Lord. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you put into your charge to the seniors, it was truly awesome and challenging to them. May the Lord richly bless you! In Christ,” -mother of 2 graduates and 1 student, 2004
“Evangel Christian School has helped me and my husband see what a blessing homeschooling could be. We have made some wonderful new friends and look forward to the upcoming school year.” -mother of 1 student / first-time homeschoolers / previously in public school, 2005
“Thank you for all you’ve done for us the past school year.” -mother of 1 graduate / previously in public school, 2004
“…(We) wanted to let you know how very much we have appreciated you especially for your understanding, your leadership, (and) your support during this past year. (Our son) enjoyed playing baseball again for the first time in a few years because of your Godly character and it was truly a blessing not to have to deal with coaches that do not have the boys’ best interest at heart... Thank you again for being a man of God and being an awesome example for him. (Our son) has made some wonderful friends through Evangel and hopes to continue those friendships for years to come.” -mother of 1 graduate, 2005
“We have been so blessed by the Tutorials program! Many thanks to all the teachers who have given of their time, talent and knowledge for the benefit of our children.” -parents of 3 graduates, 2004
“(Our) family has been greatly blessed by being a part of Evangel Christian School. The tutorial classes have been wonderful, and (our daughter) has learned so much from her teachers - Sallie, Cindy, and Jenny - from what they have taught and from their examples as Godly women. She has enjoyed being with old friends and making new friends. We are especially thankful for Bill and Sandy and all they do. They serve the Lord in this area with great joy and love.” -parents of 1 graduate, 2004
“If it were not for the high standard established in the beginning for cheerleaders, my daughter would not have chosen to participate and this has been a true desire of hers since she was small. Thank you and we pray that that high standard will be maintained throughout this next year.” -mother of 2 graduates, 2004
“(Our) family has truly been blessed through our enrollment with ECS. The children have made new friends through the field trips; I have been encouraged, uplifted and generally bolstered by the new friendships we have with ECS families. It is such a blessing to be among Christians who are raising their children with the same standards and Christian perspective we have. When we are with ECS families, I know that the other parents will help discipline, guide and instruct my children. I have seen my children truly grow in their faith and blossom socially this past year and some of that has definitely been due to the Christian friends they now have in their lives." -mother of 2 students, 2005
”Thanks....we have been blessed by genuine encouragement from both of you...and obvious concern for our family...” -parents of 3 students, 2004
”It is a blessing to have our church family be a part of our school family, to know that our home-based schooling is prayed over by so many people, and to be a part of the Tutorials program, which prepares our children for college.” -parents of 3 graduates, 2005
”…it has been a great year for us and of course with ups and downs. I'm not sure I'm their best teacher. They are more motivated for their classes than I with the exception of math am. But I do feel much more confident this year. Our family has become much closer. We're more involved in their relationships. They have enjoyed being away from so much of the peer pressure. I wouldn't even have considered homeschooling without the classes. I've loved not having to learn Physical Science or Biology. And Sallie's writing class has been a wonderful precursor to college...both (of our daughters) prefer the Spanish classes to tapes at home...You have both done a wonderful job heading up the homeschool. I can't even imagine the amount of work you have to do. Thanks so much for doing this.” -mother of 2 graduates, 2005
“…We couldn't make it without you guys...We were blessed by knowing such Godly, friendly, people. Bill and Sandy, you were always there to help in any way. With Our Thanks, Blessings, and Love," -parents of 1 graduate, 2004
”… I feel honored to have my son in your school. Please contact me if I can help in any way. The web site looks great! You are doing such a great job! I will keep you in my prayers… I want to support Evangel in the fullest. You are such a blessing to my family. We appreciate all that you do…I love the emails that you forward. It really helps keep us in touch. A year and a half ago you forwarded an email ...about a goat club meeting. We went to that meeting and now (our son) has a goat business with 35 goats and the (other participants) have become great friends.” -mother of 1 student, 2004
“We are blessed in having a facility to use where our children can gather with other students. We are blessed with a great tutorial school that allows for interaction with their peers as well as the responsibility to learn and meet the requirements of another teacher besides their mom. Lastly, we are thankful for a great supportive staff in Bill and Sandy. I don't think I call or e-mail very often (I hope not!), but when I do, they are always patient with me and answer my questions promptly. Love,” -mother of 2 graduates, 2004
“…The relationship we have through ECS has truly been a blessing from GOD...GOD supplied through ECS what His Will was for us, an awesome homeschool…We searched many home school groups but never felt that was where we were being lead until we came upon ECS…One of the home school(s) we inquired, we were told "No" and turned away because I was Catholic. I was so distraught that a "Christian" home school would turn someone away because of their "Christian" religion. ECS welcomed us into their family regardless of race or religion - by the way, I call myself a Christian…There came a time shortly after the school year began that we weren't sure we could do this and were ready to put the kids back into public school. GOD'S guidance through the wonderful friends that we have made at ECS kept us on the path that He had laid out for us…We have learned that He does everything with a purpose. Although we may not always know or even understand we trust him in everything for He has a purpose for everything…Being new to the home schooling way of life we were very unsure of what was expected of us and what we were to do. We had so many questions and many fears of failing our children…Bill and Sandy Snuggs along with many ECS families have been so supportive and encouraging. They have sat and listened to all our questions, answering so many of them. Most of all the prayers of support and love…ECS doesn't give up and doesn't know the word quit when GOD tells them to do something, proof being they didn't give up on us, even when we were ready to give up on home schooling…A lot of discipline was needed to change from our old ways to the new ways of life that GOD had set in our path. ECS has been from the start every step of the way…Our family has devoted our lives to GOD. Although we have typically normal children we have seen such a change in their lives and a devotion as never before…We never could imagined the support, friends and learning that we have experienced through ECS it has been more than we had ever hoped for…Truly ECS and everyone involved is a fulfillment of a promise from GOD…ECS has become our home, a home of love, support, encouragement and security…ECS offers just as much as any school does but there is so much more that they offer. They are a fortress to bring our children up in a way that is pleasing to GOD. We use (d) to concern ourselves with our children's college fund relating to their future, GOD has shown us that our investments are to be in their spiritual fund relating to their eternity! Thank you for all you do! We thank GOD for you! -mother of 1 graduate and 1 student, 2005
”…Thank you so much for all that you have done to make our first year with Evangel a wonderful experience.
1) We are thankful for the friendships (our children) have made.
2) We are thankful for the Tutorial classes that have added to (our son's) educational experience.
3) We are thankful for the help and assistance that has been given by staff and fellow Evangel families as we began this year.
4) We are thankful for the informative way Evangel communicates in order to keep us up to date on current issues.
Thank you again for a wonderful first year with you guys. We look forward to many more to come!” -mother of 1 graduate and 1 student, 2005
“Our opportunity to homeschool under the covering of Evangel Presbyterian Church has been an absolute tremendous blessing to our family. Under the leadership of Bill and Sandy Snuggs, we feel our children have benefited from sound Bible based academic opportunities as well as the opportunity to participate in sports. We have witnessed true spiritual guidance from the Snuggs in the area of educating our children and have found every avenue of this ministry to be aligned with the character and integrity of God's Word. Our heartfelt decision to homeschool our children has been made possible through the obedience of this church and wonderful leadership. We are truly blessed and most thankful for our school.” -parents of 2 graduates and 1 student, 2004
“The privilege of being able to educate our children in the things we feel are so important, teaching them science and history from God's perspective, and joining with them in daily Bible study are all "perks" of homeschooling that are very important to us. At the same time that we can give them this educational setting, ECS has provided the opportunity to participate in sports, cheerleading, clubs, honor society, etc, and EVERYTHING that ECS does, it does First Class! Getting to know the Snuggs family and other ECS families has been such a joy, and having the support network that ECS provides is so awesome. In particular, the two of you are amazing in your commitment to our school and in your tireless efforts on its behalf. You both are a joy to be around, and we count it a privilege to call you friends! Thanks for ALL that y'all do.” -parents of 3 graduates, 2004
